Ali Miller presents a portfolio of some of her most recent work as well as pieces shown in past exhibitions. Her work is fundamentally an amalgamation of personal experiences, family history, religion and identity and also the relationship between the individual to the material.
Memory for Ali is a source of euphoric inspiration and, whilst her work might signify a nostalgic reminiscence of years past, it also carries with it the weight of pressures and experience of real life. It is the memories that Ali believes shapes her life and art, first and foremost.
She presents these to the viewer as an aesthetic composition enriched by the use of different textures, material and patterns: the artworks created are an expression of Ali’s design perspective and interest in family history – an unusual combination, but one that succeeds in creating artwork of remarkable intimacy and harmonious composition.
