CARING FOR YOUR FINE BONE CHINA TEA SET

Congratulations on owning your Ali Miller London tea set! Each collection tells a unique story, crafted from fine bone china and embellished with indulgent 22-carat gold. Here's our guide on how to look after your tea set and preserve its beauty and elegance for many years to come.

1. Dishwasher vs. Hand Washing

Fine bone china is dishwasher-safe at a maximum temperature of 60°C. However, we would recommend hand washing any pieces with gold metal detailing. Use lukewarm water, a mild detergent, and a soft sponge or cloth to gently cleanse each piece. Harsh abrasives or strong chemicals should not be used. After washing, ensure thorough rinsing and gentle drying with a soft, lint-free cloth to prevent water spots.

2. Tackling Stains and Marks

Despite your best efforts, occasional tea or coffee stains might appear. Should this happen, Ali’s top tip is to use Milton’s Sterilising Fluid which gently removes stubborn stains. Alternatively you can create a paste using baking soda and water, applying it gently to the affected area. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly.

3. Gentle Handling

Despite its durability, fine bone china is delicate. Hold each piece gently, supporting the base of cups and teapot handles when moving or pouring.

4. Mindful Storage

When not in use, your Ali Miller London tea set deserves a safe haven. Store the pieces away from direct sunlight or extreme temperature changes, which could cause fading or damage to the delicate detailing. Consider using soft cloths or felt between stacked pieces to prevent scratches and give them ample breathing space.

5. Handling Infrequent Use

For those who treasure their tea set but use it sparingly, occasional use might lead to dust settling and potential discolouration. Before each use, gently hand-wash the set to maintain its pristine condition, ready for your next afternoon tea gathering.
